At NextGen Label Group™, we are committed to delivering state-of-the-art technology to help our customers strengthen their brands. These Solutions-Centric innovations are part of our commitment to Brand Custodianship, a philosophy which drives every decision we make, and forms the foundation of our organization.
Ensuring consistent, high-quality label and packaging products is a key component of Brand Custodianship. We strive not only to meet but exceed our customer’s expectations in every way.
This mindset guided our latest quality and automation initiative. The new AVT Inspection system focuses on eliminating redundancy in our production workflow and reducing the burden on our press operators.
The Challenge: Eliminating Manual Data Entry and Risk with AVT Inspection
While AVT Inspection systems were already part of our current workflow, we identified a critical area for improvement: data duplication and manual entry at the press level.
“We realized a lot of data was already being entered upstream in prepress, but that information wasn’t automatically populating in the AVT system at the press level,” said Nick Noyes, Chief Operating Officer at NextGen Label Group. “Our press operators had to re-enter it manually – which created extra steps and increased the potential for error.”
Simplifying and automating the process became a key operational goal. A new system was developed to create a seamless data flow from prepress to press to inspection. This improved consistency, reduced operator burden, and strengthened overall quality assurance.
The Solution: AVT AutoSet Integration Powered by APR
Building on a long-standing partnership with All Printing Resources (APR), we collaborated with their team to identify and implement the right solution. They brought all stakeholders together – AVT, Esko (a leader in automating and streamlining the prepress production process) and our internal team of employee-owners, to ensure the solution would be seamless, scalable, and compatible with our production environment.
The solution came in the form of the AVT AutoSet. With integration managed by APR, the system now pulls job data directly from prepress workflows and feeds it automatically into the AVT system on press. What once required manual data entry now happens instantly creating one connected workflow from business system to prepress to the production floor.
APR’s guidance was invaluable throughout the process. They coordinated every detail, from setup and training, ensuring system compatibility, and empowering our employee-owners to get the most out of the new technology.
The Results: Simplified Operation, Reduced Errors, and Expanded Capability
The new systems have already made a significant impact. With the AVT Inspection Systems in place, press operators have a more intuitive workflow with reduced manual data entry, allowing them to focus on production and quality.
Having seen the significant benefits of the AVT systems, NextGen Label Group has decided to expand to six units across two facilities.
