FAQs
What type of files are required to print my job?
Macaran accepts print-ready files in a variety of formats including: .ai, .eps, .pdf, and .psd. For more information please email Donna Kamkar at dkamkar@nglabel.com
I don’t know what material my label should be printed on… Can you help?
Yes we can! Speak with your salesperson or our Customer Service team and they can help you choose a material that meets your needs, usage and application. Then request a sample package, this will give you an idea on the different types of materials that are available.
What is RGB, CMYK & Spot Color?
Computer monitors display color as RGB (Red, Green, Blue) colors. CMYK colors are used in 4-color printing and are (C) Cyan, (M) Magenta, (Y) Yellow and (K) Black (K). Spot colors, or Pantone / PMS colors, are specific mixes of inks to make a specific color.
What is a Raster file and a Vector file?
Computer graphics can be created as either raster or vector images. Raster graphics (.jpg, .bmp) are bitmaps. A bitmap is a grid of individual pixels that collectively compose an image. Raster graphics become “blocky,” since each pixel increases in size as the image is made larger.
A vector graphic (.eps, .ai) is composed of paths. Because vector graphics are not made of pixels, the images can be scaled to be very large without losing quality.
Do I need a Bar Code for my label?
If your product will be sold at retail you most likely will need to generate unique barcodes for each of your products. For more information about creating a bar code for your label please visit the GS1 US website.
I no longer have access to the original design files used to create my labels. Can you help me?
Yes we can. If you have a printed copy of label, Macaran’s in-house designers can rebuild your files.
Do you design labels from scratch as well?
Yes we do. Our experienced designers can take your label project from start to finish. There is a cost to design your label but your sales associate or customer service representative can discuss pricing with you before any work begins.
